Title of Invention

A DETACHABLE SUCTION HOOD FOR FIBRE PROCESSING MACHINE

Abstract This invention relates to a detachable suction hood for fibre processing machine. It consists of a curved outer member and two side plates laterally extending there from. This is mounted on transversely disposed frame members. The length of the side plates is about 200 mm or at least three times diameter of the plucking rollers housed within.
Full Text This invention relates to a detachable suction hood for fibre plucking machine.
Suction of flocks of fibre formed during fibre processing is an essential part of textile fibre processing. Conventional suction arrangement in fibre plucking machines consists of suction means, suction hood and collection system. Suction hood in the hitherto known suction arrangement is permanently bonded to the plucking head. Such permanent bonding is found disadvantageous as it prevents easy access for cleaning and maintenance of the components housed within the machinery. Contact rollers and the grill unit housed within are to be dismantled to provide access for cleaning and maintenance of the conventional textile plucking machines.
In order to overcome this drawback and to provide easy access to the machinery we have developed a detachable suction hood. Access is also possible to areas located on or above the plucking rollers and inside the plucking head arrangement once the suction hood is detached from the head of the unit, thus avoiding dismantling of heavy machine parts, saving downtime and thereby increasing productivity.

Accordingly the present invention provides a detachable suction hood for fibre plucking machine comprising a curved outer member having at least two plate members laterally disposed on either side thereof, said outer member being mounted on base frame members extending transversely thereto on the frame, said hood being provided with holding means to detachably secure the same to the fibre processing machine.
The laterally disposed plate members may extend atleast to 200 mm from the base of the curved member. Alternately this distance may be three times the diameter of the rollers housed within the plucking machine. This enables maximum possible suction during operation. Holding means for detachably mounting the hood may be clamps, rivets and fasteners and may be mounted on any part of the assembly.
The application no. 197/MAS/99 describes and claims a drive system for rotating a turn table of a fibre plucking machine
The application no. 198/MAS/99 describes and claims an interchangeable grill assembly for textile plucking machine
The application no. 199/MAS/99 describes and claims a device for locking a plucking head of a fibre plucking machine
The application no. 200/MAS/99 describes and claims a device for lifting and lowering the head assembly of a fibre plucking machine
The application no. 201/MAS/99 describes and claims a plucking head assembly of a fibre plucking machine

This invention will now be described with reference to the figures in the accompanying drawings.
Fig.I illustrate the suction hood assembled with the head of the plucking machine.
Fig. II shows the detachable suction hood and the plucking head separately to enable clear understanding of the assembly.
The curved outer member of the suction hood is indicated by reference numeral (2). Numeral (1) stands for the plucking head and numeral (3) represents the opening in the plucking head to which the hood is detachably mounted. Reference numeral (4) shows the laterally extending side plate and numeral (5) shows the frame member for positioning the suction hood within the head opening. Holding or fastening means are shown by numerals (6) and (6"). The arrows in fig.n indicate the flow of the fibre during processing.
The holding means may be detached and the suction hood may be pulled out as and when required to provide access to the rollers, grills and the like machine parts. This facilitates cleaning and maintenance easier and avoids dismantling of heavy machine components.
Though this invention has been described herein above with a specific embodiment, variations and alterations known to a person skilled in the art are within the scope and ambit of the appended claims.

WE CLAIM:
1. A detachable suction hood for fibre plucking machine comprising a
curved outer member (2) having at least two plate members (4) laterally
disposed on either side thereof, said outer member being mounted on base
frame members (5) extending transversely thereto on the frame, said hood
being provided with holding means (6,6") to detachably secure the same
to the fibre processing machine.
2. The detachable suction hood as claimed in claim 1, wherein said laterally
disposed side plates (4) extend at least to 200 mm from the base of the
curved outer member (2).
3. The detachable suction hood as claimed in claims 1 and 2, wherein the
holding means (6,6") are clamps, rivets and fasteners.
4. The detachable suction hood as claimed in claims 1 to 4, wherein the length of the side plate is three times the diameter of the plucking rollers provided within the machinery.
5. A detachable suction hood for fibre plucking machine, substantially as hereinabove described with particular reference to the accompanying drawings.
