Full Text | This invention relates to a reel permeation chamber. An object of this invention is to propose a reel permeation chamber, which makes the raw silk soft, antistatic and free from gum spots. Another object of this invention is to propose a reel permeation chamber which improves the winding efficiency, reduces the number of breaks as well as waste percentage. Yet another object of this invention is to propose a reel permeation chamber which is simple in consstruction and comparatively small in size. According to this invention there is provided A reel permeation chamber having a cover provided with an air inlet valve, a vacuum pump with a piston working therein connected to said chamber, a lever pivotally mounted on a base and connected to said piston for imparting a reciprocating movement thereto. The reel permeation chamber has an outlet at the base for drainage of water. An air inlet valve and vacuum gauge is provided with the cover. Further objects and advantages of this invention will be more apparent from the ensuing de^cri"pton when " read in conjunction with the accompanying drawing and wherein Fig.l shows the reel permeation chamber of the present invention. The reel permeation chamber 1 comprises, for example, of 18 reels. Silk reel permeation chamber 1 may be made out of stainless steel sheet of 30 inches height and 22 inches diameter. A top convex shaped cover 2 is fitted with vacuum gauge 3 to measure the vacuum. Top cover 2 has an air inlet valve 4. The adjoining place between chamber 1 and the top cover 2 consists of a ring 5 and air tight gasket 6. Chamber 1 is connected to a hand operated vacuum pump 7 having a piston 8 and rocking lever 9 for hand operation. Lever 9 is pivotally mounted on a base 11 so as to impart a reciprocating movement to piston 8. Chamber 1 has an outlet 12 for drainage of water 10. F-urther, a handle 13 is mounted on cover 2. Chamber 1 is very simple in construction attached to hand operated vacuum pump 7. The 18 reels mounted on 3 poles (with 6 reels per pole) can be easily placed inside the chamber for permeating and removed from the chamber by hand without, the use of mechanical hoist. The operation of this permeation chamber is completely manual without the use of electrical power. About 807. of the reel pE?rmeation ch|^amber capacity is filled with water mixed 90 with wetting agent (lOOOsi). The reels are placed inside the chamber submerged in the wetting agent and vacuum is created to the extent of 400 mmHg and released. Two or three such cycles are used depending upon the requirement. Due to this treatment/process the liquor inside the chamber penetrates from the top layers of silk to bottom layers of silk on the small reels. This permeation process keeps the layers of silk on the reels wet till the end of rereeling process. The silk hanks thus produced by following this vacuum permeation process will be soft and free from gum spots. This facilitate easy unwinding during winding process with less winding breaks and lower waste percentage. The weting of silk on small reels is carried out in a reel permeation chamber. In this method, small reels are put in a stainless steel vessel with water at temperatuie of about 30°C, and the vessel is closed tightly. Vacuum is created in the chamber by a vacuum pump till the pressure of 300-400mm of Hg and then air inlet valve opened. The air that rushes inside the vessel forces the water to enter into different layers of raw silk on the small reels. The cycle is repeated depending on the quantity of silk on the small reel. Reel permeation process enhances re-reeling performance, retains the luster of the silk and improves the handle of the raw silk by wetting the layers of silk on the smail reels. The reel permeation chamber facilitates uniform wetting of silk in all the layers on the small reels which is suitable for small scale reeling units in India. WE CLAIM 1. A reel permeation chamber having a cover provided with an air inlet valve, a vacuum pump with a piston working therein connected to said chamber, a lever pivotaliy mounted on a base and connected to said piston for imparting a reciprocating movement thereto. 2. A reel permeation chamber as claimed in claim 1 wherein said chamber has an outlet at the base for drainage of water. 3. A reel permeation as claimed in claim. 1 wherein vacuum gauge is provided with the cover. 4. A reel permeation chamber substantially as herein described and illustrated with reference to accompanying drawing, DATED THIS 18TH DAY OF MARCH, 1997 |
