A TONGUE FOR EASY TRANSFER OF WEB FROM CARDING CYLINDER TO DOFFER

Abstract A tongue for easy transfer of web from carding cylinder to doffer is provided. The tongue comprises a sturdy triangular shaped member (1) with nose (3) of the triangular shaped member being located very close to the fibre transfer zone (2) between carding cylinder and doffer.The triangular shaped member (1) is mounted on holding brackets (4) on each side frame of the carding machine and adjusting and locking means (5) are provided in front of the holding bracket on each side frame.
Full Text The invention relates to a tongue for easy transfer of web from carding cylinder to doffer during texctile processing.
It is known to use an extension of undercasing in the carding machine to effect transfer of web between the cylinder and doffer. However, this arrangement has the disadvantage of making resetting quite cumbersome. The setting is often not uniform across the working width. The .undercasing extension cannot reach very close to the fibre transfer zone. These disadvantages make it difficult to achieve high speed transfer.
In order to overcome the abovementioned problems in transfering web from carding cylinder to doffer, the applicants found that providing a tongue in the fibre transfer zone for easy transfer of web from carding cylinder to doffer.
Accordingly the invention provides a tongue for easy transfer of web from carding cylinder to doffer said tongue comprising a sturdy triangular shaped member, with nose of the triangular shaped member being located very close to the fibre transfer zone between carding cylinder and doffer, the said triangular shaped member being mounted on holding brackets on each side frame of the carding machine and adjusting and locking means are provided in front of the holding bracket on each side frame.

The accompanying drawing shows the tongue according to the invention situated between cylinder and doffer for easy transfer of web from cylinder to doffer. It comprises a sturdy triangular shaped member (1) with its nose (3) very close to the fibre transfer zone (2). The angle at the nose of the triangular shaped member (1) determines the air current for effective transfer of web at high speeds of cylinder and doffer. The triangular shaped member (1) is mounted on holding brackets The vertex angle and height of the triangular shaped member (1) is different for optimum transfer of different web material. Since the triangular shaped member (1) is sturdy, it withstands air current produced at high delivery rates and maintain the set position. The setting of the tongue is accurate and it does not change during removal and remounting during maintenance. Gauging is made easy by using adjusting and locking means.


WE CLAIM :
1. A tongue for easy transfer of web from carding cylinder to
doffer said tongue comprising a "sturdy triangular shaped member
(1) «ith nose (3) of the triangular shaped member being located
very close to the fibre transfer zone (2) between carding cylinder and doffer, the said triangular shaped member (1) being mounted on holding brackets (4) on each side frame of the carding machine and adjusting and locking means (5) are provided in front of the holding bracket on each side frame.
2. The tongue as claimed in claim 1, in which the triangular
shaped member (1) has a coated surface to avoid sticking of the
fibres to the surface of the triangular shaped member (1).
3. A tongue for easy transfer of web from carding cylinder to
doffer, substantially as hereinabove described and illustrated
with reference to the accompanying drawings.
