Title of Invention | IONISER FOR ELECTRONIC TESTING MACHINE |
---|---|
Abstract | This invention in general relates to Iomser for Electronic Testing Machine which provide a simple systematic process for more re1i.a.ble, accurate and efficient way for testing the condoms, The ioniser is a plate electrode having a row of air holes drilled along the length of the metal plate and the metal nee<lles al'e :fixed ll:l tl:le alt.ernate air holes alOl:lg t1:le length such that the open air holes and metal noodles are alternative to each other. The needle assembly is enclosed ttlside an enclosure of insulating material, The plenum portipn is provided at the rear of the metal plate and a slit provided in the front. The ioniser is connected to the high voltage and the plenum chamber is provided with compressed air source, due to which a stream of highly compressed air flows through the air holes and directed towards test zone where by "the ionized air reaching the test zone reduce "the breakdOW'n voltage of the air near the test zone which fmhances and enables detection of finer holes in the COtldoms beitlg tested and also reducing the applied detection in the process. |
Full Text | Background: The test condom is fitted over a conducting mandrel of suitable shape. A flexible conducting brush is in contact with the outer surface of the mandrel/ The mandrel and the brush are rotated relative to each other at a suitable speed. An appropriate direct voltage is applied between the mandrel and the brush. During rotation, whenever a hole passes between the mandrel and the brushthere is a dielectric break down of the air gap and a current passes indicating the presence of a hole. The voltage is adjusted such that the latex itself does not break down. It happens that to be able to detect finer holes very high voltages are needed which can lead to instability. The novelty of the present invention is to pre-ionize the air in the vicinity-of the test zone so as to reduce the dielectric break down voltage of the air gap without affecting the dielectric properties of the latex film of the condom. Operating principle: A very high direct voltage (2-1 Okv) is applied to a shaped electrode which might be saw-tooth edged thin metal sheet or a row of metal pins which is positioned at a suitable distance pointing towards the test zone. A stream of ionized air is created which moves towards the zone of test. This is enhanced by suitably enclosing the electrode and providing a compressed air supply to the enclosure. A slit in the enclosure ensures that the ion stream reaches the test zone.' The applied test voltage has to be suitably lowered can mensurate with the size of the defect being detected. Dated this 15th May 1999 WE CLAIM: - 1. An ioniser for electronic testing of condoms mounted at test zone at a distance and comprising of; - Ioniser Needle Assembly unit connected to a high voltage, - Enclosure Assembly unit enclosing the said Ioniser needle assembly, -Wherein said ioniser needle assembly means a row of air holes drilled along the length of the metal plate uniformly and the metal needles are fixed in the alternate air holes such that one open air hole and metal needles alternative each other along the length of the metal plate; -Wherein said enclosure assembly means an enclosure formed on sides, top and bottom so as to enclose the said ioniser needle assembly within, having a plenum chamber at its back portion to receive the air supply and the enclosure so formed at the front such that a vertical slit is formed to channelise the air out of air vents towards the test zone; 2. An Ioniser for electronic testing of condoms as claimed In Claim 1, wherein the alternative air holes means that one metal needle alternate with one air hole. 3. An Ioniser for electronic testing of condoms as claimed In Claim 1, wherein the alternate air holes means one metal needle alternate after two air holes 4. An Ioniser for electronic testing of condoms as claimed in Claim 1, wherein the ioniser needle assembly is connected to a high voltage of 2-10 KV. |
