Title of Invention

A LATEX BASED ADHESIVE COMPESITON

Abstract The latex based adhesive composition of this invention has controllable viscosity and enhanced penetrating properties. The composition has a blend of centrifuged rubber latex or creamed rubber latex, casein dissolved in ammonia, starch solution having granules disrupted by treating in water, known vulvanising agents, accelerators, preservatives and antoxidants. The viscosity of the adhesive composition can be varied as required by changing the proportion of latex, starch and casein. PRICE: THIRTY RUPEES.
Full Text The accelerator in 1 kg water. A known dispersing agent may also be used. The strength of this solution may also be varied to +/- 15% without altering the nature of ythe final adhesive composition.
Antoxidants and preservatives may be prepare din any manner known in the art. The adhesive composition is prepared by admixing the components thoroughly. The proportion of latex, casein and starch may be varied depending upon the required viscosity proportionate increase in the vulcanising agent, preservative and accelerator may be made.
Accordingly the present invention provides a latex based adhesive composition comprising a blend of (a) 0.5 to 5 parts by volume of centrifuged latex selected from natural latex and latex having 35 to 58% of dry rubber; (b) 0.1 to 3 parts by volume of 10% solution of casein in ammonia; (c) 2 to 8 parts by volume of 20% solution of starch; (d) upto 0.03 part by volume of an accelerator such as herein described ; (e) upto 0.03 part by volume of known vulcanising agents; and optionally (£) upto 0.1 part of known oxidants and (g) upto 0.01 part of known preservative.
Examples of two formulations are given herein below which is not intended to be limitive but illustrative in nature.
Formulation of adhesive with centrifiiged latex having at least 60% of natural rubber latex:
(1) centrifuged latex with 60% latext content 1.00 litre
(2) 10% casein solution 0.5 litre

All the components are blended thoroughly to obtain the adhesive composition. The proportion of latex, casein and starch decides the viscosity of resulting composition and can be varied depending upon the requirement.
Obvious equivalents and variations known to persons skilled in the art are not excluded from the scope of this invention.
