ROTARY DAMPING SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING OSCILLATIONS OF AUTOMATIC OUTFLOW REGULATING GATE.
||This invention relates to a rotary damping system,which comprises of a rotary damper which provides resistance to quick movements of the gate,a gate bracket welded to the gate leaf of Automatic Outflow Regulating Gate and a lever system that connects the rotary damper with the gate bracket. Rotary dampers have never been used for slowing down movements of gates which regulate flow of water. Hydraulic rotary dampers in the form of hydraulic door closers as per known art, use low viscosity hydraulic oil and make use of development of fluid pressure by forcing hydraulic oil through a small aperture. In such designs, the viscosity of oil does not play any significant part in providing the damping resistance. Viscous disc type rotary dampers as per known art use high viscosity silicone fluid for developing viscous resistance, but do not develop fluid pressures for providing damping resistance. The novelty of the invention lies in use of a rotary damper which makes use of fluid pressure developed in forcing high viscosity silicone fluid through a restricted area of leakage, for producing the necessary damping resistance, and using this device along with a lever system, in slowing down rotary motion of an automatic gate for regulating outflow of water.
