This invention relates to a device for training personnel in using small arms such as rifles and pistols of various types. This device is ideally suited for indoor training and can be operated on domestic power supply lines.
The device mainly consists of a platform where a weapon module is mounted. The platform is mounted on adjustable support means so as to adjust the height of the platform to suit individual requirements of trainees. This enables the trainee to practice firing in any desired position, i.e. by standing, by kneeling, by lying or fox hole. The weapon module mounted on the platform is connected to a recoil system consisting of a recoil rod and a recoil control module. The number of rounds to be fired and the distance of target recoil can be predetermined. The platform has a target system, positioned opposite the weapon module. The distance of the target system and the proportionate scaling of the target may also be adjusted as desired. The target system consists of a monitor which visually displays the target. A sensor is mounted on the platform and is focused towards the target. The sensor comprises a camera. The weapon module is provided with a pulse emiting means. Triggering of the weapon for training purposes activate the pulse emiting laser diode and the sensing unit to sense the co -ordinates where the emitted laser beam hits the target.

A pneumatic system is connected to the recoil system for simlating the recoil in the weapon module, when fired. The data received by the sensing system is fed to an instructor nodule which consists of a computer and a display unit. The computer is programmed to corelate the data received from the different modules or units of the device. The data received and the corrections to be made are displayed after corelating and codifying the data. The weapon module, the sensor, the target system and the pneumatic system are connected to the instructor module.
Accordingly the present invention provides a device for training personnel in small arms comprising a platform having a weapon module mounted thereon, a recoil module connected to the said weapon module, a target system displaying a target mounted on the said platform, a sensor focused to the said target, a pneumatic system connected to the said recoil module and target system for measuring recoil and target aim data when the weapon module is fired and an instructor module comprising a computer and a display unit programmed to corelate and display the data received from the sensor, pneumatic system and weapon module.

The invention will now be described with the single figure in the accompanying drawings.
The device consists of a platform P which is movably mounted on a frame F. The platform has a weapon module W adjustably mounted. Rr is the recoil rod which connects the weapon module W to the recoil module Rm provided in the platform. Opposite the weapon module is a target system T. The target system displays the target to be fired at by the weapon module. The size and the position of the target is adjustable. Pneumatic system PS is connected to the recoil module. Similarly the sensor means which consists of a camera focused to the target module collects data from the target when fired upon and transmits the same to the computer MP. The weapon module is provided with a pulse emitting means or continuous beam such as a laser which gets activated when the weapon is fired. The pulses emitted by this hits the target module and the signals developed thereby are conveyed through the sensing unit to the computer. The instructor module is programmed to corelate the data supplied to it from the target means, sensor unit and pneumatic system

and to display corrective directions on the screen of the display unit D, if necessary, so that personnel using the device can take corrective steps when necessary.
Although this invention has been described herein above with a specific embodiment, obvious equivalents known to persons skilled in the art are not excluded therefrom and the appended claims.
