Title of Invention

"A COMPOSITION CAPABLE OF ADMINISTRATING AN ACTIVE AGENT"

Abstract A composition capable of administering an active agent comprising 10-50% solvent as herein described mixed with 10-40% glycols and 10-40% of penetration enhancing agent as herein described being mixed therewith.
Full Text This invention relates to a composition capable of carrying/administering an active agent for example proteins, protein hormones and other proteindrugs through skin. Reference is made to copending patent application no. 1051/Del/96 relating to a composition comprising a vehicle and an active agent for treatment of pigmentary disorders of the skin and as a cosmetic preparation for tanning of the skin surface without exposure to sunlight. However, such a composition of the aforesaid patent application could only be employed for the aforesaid application. In distinction, the present invention relates to a vehicle for active agents for use in applications other than tanning of a skin surface.
An object of this invention is to propose a composition for active agents for applications other than tanning of skin surface or pigmentary disorder.
According to this invention there is provided a composition capable of administering an active agent comprising 1θ-5θ% solvent as herein described mixed with 1θ-4θ% glycols and 1θ—4θ% of penetration enhancing agent as herein described being mixed therewith.
Further according to this invention there is provided a process for the preparation of a composition for active agents comprising mixing 1θ-5θ% solvent with 1θ-4θ% glycols at the ambient temperature and pressure and then adding therein 1θ—4θ% penetration enhancing agent as herein described.
In accordance with this invention the composition has 1θ-5θ% volume by volume of solvent mixed with 1θ-4θ% of glycols and 1θ—4θ% weight by weight of penetration enhancing agent at an ambient temperature, preferably at a temperature around 25°C.
The solvent comprises alcohols such as isopropy1 alcohol, propyl alcohol or ethyl alcohol. The glycols comprises propylene glycol or polyethylene glycol. The penetration or enhancing agents comprises propyl, isopropyl or ethyl myristate or propyl, isopropyl or ethyl sterate or propyl, isopropyl or ethyl palmitate.
The composition is prepared by mixing 1θ-5θ% volume by volume of solvent with 10-40% glycols, 1θ-4θ% weight by weight of penetration enhancing agent which is added thereto at an ambient temperature, preferably at the temperature around 25°C.
In accordance with this invention, the active agent can be selected from lentines or fusion peptides, such as anoelocyte which is a stimulating peptide for tho defence mechanism of the body. Yet another stimulating peptide is prolenkin or neupogen.
The selective active fragment of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) used for preparation of the soluction are :
Copending patent application no. 1051/Del/96 describes a vehicle for a particular peptide and useful for pigmentary disorders and traning of a shim surface without the necessity of exposure to sunliqht. However, the vehicle can also bo advantageously employed for other peptides having a molecular weight of upto 1000.
Foptides as active agents are known in the art, and which are administered to a patient- However, such peptides could not hither to be administered orally or topically, and had to be administered only in the form of an injection- the advantage of the present vehicle is that the peptide of having a molecular weight of upto 1000 can now be administered topically, and which was not higher to possible
Roference 18, made to peptidese having a molecular of upto 100 Though studies have yet to be ef fected,
it is belived that the vehicle of the present invention can also be employed for topical administraction of peptides having a moiecular weight of more than l000.
